ORIGINS OF COMMUNICATION

Communication between two people is an outgrowth of methods developed over centuries of expression. Gestures, the development of language, and the necessity to engage in joint action all played a part.
Communication
means transmitting information, ideas or feelings from one person to another
.If you tell someone what you think or want , you are transferring that information
from your mind to the mind of the other person. When you talk something over
with a friend , you are both trading ideas. This is communication by speech
.It is the earliest and still the most important way people communicate .But
it is by no means the only way. We communicate also by a gesture , a look
, or a picture ,by written and printed language, and in many other ways.
The word "communicate" comes from the Latin communicare , which means "to share" or "to make common" Communication requires a message ( the idea you want to communicate )and a means of giving it to someone else.
The chief means of communication are the brain and the senses. Human beings use mainly the senses of seeing and hearing. But they may use other senses , too. People who cannot see or hear sometimes learn to communicate by the sense of touch. Sightlest people read by touching raised letters with their fingertips .People who cannot hear or speak but can see communicate by using a special hand language and finger alphabet.
Communication makes it possible for people to share their knowledge ,add to it and pass it on to the next generation .By communicating , each person adds ideas to the pool of ideas for others to use .Imagine how it would be if there were no communication .People would have to find out everything themselves .They would have to make everything themselves .They would have to make everything they used .Each person would have to start all over from the beginning.
The history of communication is the story of how our prehistoric ancestors developed into modern people . How did it begin? How did it all come about ?
