Welcome to the Jurassic Period, which is 195 - 136 million years old. In its warm moist climate, the earth is covered wiht huge conifers, ferns and the first flowering plants.
STEGOSAURUS - This dinosaur sports a row of 17 large triangular plates running
down his spine. These plates may be for prottection or for regulating body temperature. He's about the size of a semi-truck - 20 feet long and 8 feet high at the hips. Stegosaurus has an unusually small head for his size and a wicked-looking tail equipped with long spikes for self defense. Luck for us he lived over 150 million years ago!
DIPLODOCUS - This gentle monster is eary to spot on the Jurassic horizon. He's one of the largest land creatures in the earth's history, growing to lengths of more than 85 feet. With his low body and long neck and tail, Diplodocus can easily reach his main food source of high growing vegetation. Also, his small head and slender teeth are well-adapted to the task.
