Ghosts of Highways Past: El Camino Real

Spanish Missionary: Fray Pedro Ramirez

Fray Pedro Ramirez (1679-1715) worked as a missionary, travelling from mission to mission. He spent his life trying to convert the various Indian tribes to Christianity. He died in a sudden Indian attack while on his way to San Antonio from east Texas, never knowing if he had achieved the goal to which he had dedicated his life. His question is:

Were the Spanish successful in converting the Indians to Christianity?

The character Fray Pedro Ramirez is fictional, but based on facts.
