Standard Basics
- Networks:
- collection of computers connected via
special cables or other network media in order to share files ,folders and applications.

- Internet:
- Global collection of networks.

- Intranet:
- The implementation of internet technologies
such as TCP/IP and World Wide Web servers for use within a corporate
organization rather than for connection to internet as a whole.

- Uniform Resource
Locator(URL):
- An internet addressing scheme that spells
out the exact location of a net resource.

- Most of URLs have the following form :

Protocol://host.domain/directory/file

- protocol: the TCP/IP protocol to use
for retrieving the resource (e.g. http or ftp).
- domain: the domain name of the host computer where the resources
resides.
- directory: the
host directory that contains the
resources.
- file:
the filename of the resource.

- Host:
- A computer on the internet.

- Hyper Text :
- In world wide Web, an underlined word
or phrase that takes you to another topic or different site.

- BPS:
- bits per second (The rate at which a modem
or other communication device transmits data.

- KBPS:
- One thousand bits per second.

- MBPS:
- One million bits per second.

- Data bits:
- In modem data transfer, the number of bits
used to represent a character.

- Gateway:
- A network computer or other device that
acts as the middleman between two otherwise-incompatible systems.The gateway translates
the incoming and outgoing packets so that each system can work on data

- Musical Instrument Digital
Interface(MIDI):
- A communication protocol that standardizes
the exchange of data between a computer and musical synthesizer.
