Before technology became more advanced doctors use to stick needles into the mothers abdomen and get samples of the fluid surrounding the unborn child. This could tell if the child would have any diseases and it would tell the sex of the unborn child. Now, the doctors snip off a small piece of placenta, as an embronic tissue, and is genetically identical to the fetal cells. By doing this process, the doctors can find the sex of the baby and any diseases the baby has at an earlier stage. Genetic screening will be helpful to us in the future to help doctors see if the baby will have any diseases or it might turn out to offer disturbing insights for the futuer.
