PIXAR
Pixar Animation Studios, located in the scenic San Francisco Bay Area, was
founded not too long ago in 1986. Pixar animation combines the creativity of
some of the world’s leading animators and story writers with an entirely
new, three dimensional animated look. Pixar’s first movie, Toy Story, was
released by The Walt Disney Company in November 1995. Toy Story is the
world’s first fully computer-animated feature film and it became the highest
grossing film released in 1995. And Pixar’s first interactive title based on
Toy Story was the fastest selling CD ROM ever at launch!!
In 1986, the founding year, Pixar’s first short film, Luxo Jr., was
nominated for an academy Award. In 1988, Pixar’s short film, Tiny Toy,
became the first computer animated film to win an Academy Award for Best
animated Short Film. And in 1995, Toy Story received a Special Achievement
Academy Award. All together, over these past years that Pixar has existed,
15 employees have been awarded Academy Awards. Obviously, since the
beginning, Pixar Animation Studios has been dedicated to the creation of
great stories and characters through the use of computer animation.
Because of Pixar’s dedication to quality films, it will continue to create
and produce "must see" flicks, including Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and A bug’s
Life. The studio will also continue to create entertaining short films such
as Academy-award winning Geri’s Game, produced in 1997. Pixar’s population
around the animation field has yet to be filled and the company is still
planting it’s roots in this business!
