eB4T - Thanx

eB4T would like to give a huge THANX to all of the wonderful people who contributed to our site, and helped make it an incredible, international, award-winning success.

Our coaches, Barbara Makeda Blake-Hannah (Kingston, Jamaica), Sima Sconyers (Austin, Texas, USA), and Maggie Hanus in (Manor, Texas, USA) as well as the whole families of the eB4T team, deserve the first thanx for the unconditional love and support they provided.

Thanx also to ThinkQuest for accepting our entry, and Advanced Network & Services, Inc. for providing us with webspace on their server.

Thanx to American Airlines and Sutton Place Hotel for being a sponsor to the TechSchool 2000, allowing the TechSchool to bring international students to collaborate with the Jamaican students, and giving us an amazing oppurtunity to learn.

MANY thanx to Dotan Sela (Oregon, USA / Israel) of EasyBanners Inc. who helped by providing moral support as well as inspiration and feedback for the design of the site.

Thanx to Pete Stein of ThinkQuest 1999 entry Ultimate Computer Source (Team #25018), for all the amazing help, encouragement, and support that he gave us. We met him on the ThinkQuest Contest Message Board (and messaged him because he seemed very knowledable), and even though he was competing against us in the ThinkQuest 1999 competition (down to the same category!) he still gave us his time. Such an awesome display of unselfishness should be given a special award of "Good Sportsmanship". We wish Pete and his team the best of luck for winning an award in ThinkQuest 1999, and thanx again!

Thanx to Sarosh Wahla. For the encouragement, support, as well as technical expertise that he gave to us.

Thanx to Joshua Motta of Net-Avenue / Merchantfront for donating such a wonderful eCommerce Shopping Cart demo to eB4T!

Thanx to Gordon Durgha, for hosting the eB4T eCommerce Shopping Demo on your webspace, and on such short notice! We really appreciate it.

Thanx to Norman Tan of M-9 Creations for creating such a wonderful "Virtual Scrapbook" in Macromedia Flash!

Thanx to all of the awesome teens who gave us a bit of time, and answered our interview questions: Sanjay Murray, Dotan Sela, Gordon Durgha, Sarosh Wahla, John Lachmeyer, Pete Stein, Jonathan Paul Sadowski, Norman Tan, Albert Lu, Don DeMarco, and Oliver Tanswell.

Thanx to Austin-American Statesman for publishing an AWESOME article about Makonnen David Blake-Hannah in August 1998, and thereby giving us the idea for our third team mate.

Thanx to Margaret Wagner-Dahl of Jenkens & Gilchrist (also head of the Austin, Texas chapter of Woman In Technology International).

An enourmous thanx goes to TVJ (TV Jamaica) who featured the eB4T Team Members and the eB4T websites on the "Smile Jamaica" morning show, as well as the evening news. Thanx especially to one of our coaches, Barbara Makeda Blake-Hannah, for arranging the air time.

Thanx to the WHOLE TechSchool 2000 class of 1999, for contributing to the Jamaican translation of the site map. Another thanx goes to the Yugoslavian TechSchooler, Maja Milicevic, for doing the Serbian translation of the site map. Thanx AGAIN, for letting us use eB4T to introduce you to eBusiness. All the TechSchoolers were great students, and we had a blast teaching all of you. We hope had fun. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

Since the eB4T team is mostly non-bilingual, an absolutely huge thanx goes to AltaVista and their BabelFish Language Translator. Without this powerful tool, the successful translation into different languages would be impossible. We are forever grateful!

Of course, without Microsoft Notepad (to code the HTML for the website) and Adobe Photoshop (to create all of the fantastic graphics) this site would exist only in our minds... :-)

Melissa Would Personally Like to Give Thanx to...

My parents, for giving me an awesome computer, and helping me buy the latest and greatest software.

Thanx to the Austin Chapter of
WITI (Woman In Technology International) (especially Margaret Wagner-Dahl) for giving me incredible networking oppurtunities, and for giving me my first introduction to eBusiness and eCommerce. Also for bringing such cool and inspiring woman entrepreneurs to speak at the meetings. Margaret: You're a very wonderful and special woman, and I am going to miss you soooooo much after you move!!

Thanx to Becky Taylor of Terrace Mountain Systems for giving me an oppurtunity to design a technology website.

Thanx to Lisa Sharples of Garden.com for giving an absolutely amazing and inspirational talk at a WITI meeting.

Thanx to Wired Magazine, Wired Digital News, HotWired, WebMonkey, and HotBot for keeping me up-to-date on on the latest technology news, techniques, and happenings, and for giving me a strong background in everything I know (especially eBiz, eCommerce, & Graphic / Web Design).

Thanx to Adobe for creating such a TOTALLY AWESOME graphic design program like Photoshop, and allowing students to have a discount.

Thanx to Macromedia for creating such an awesome program like Director, and allowing the Shockwave and Flash plug-ins to be downloaded for free. Also for designing really cool ads for Flash and putting them in Wired Magazine, so that I can cut them out and keep them. And thanx for sending me a free t-shirt!

Thanx to all of the skating crew (to name a few... Stephany & Samantha Gunterman, Taylor Ayres, Branden James, Jake Sawyer, Brandon & Garrett Moxley, James Jones, Jay Floyd, Danny Lewis, Josh & Jean... And of course my speed skating coach, Sonny Feltor, his wife Peggy Feltor, his daughters Kammie & Kasey Feltor, and his totally awesome granddaughter Kera Medders. Also the whole Waco skating team (especially Jordan Malone, Chip Filler, and Ben Bell), Inside Edge, and coaches Gypsy Lucas & Chris Tidwell, as well as Joe Cotter.) Where would I be without y'all?!?

To the whole TechSchool 2000 class of 1999: YOW! Whata gwan? Thanx for being such awesome students. I had a blast teaching. Hope to see you next year! Yah mon. ONE LOVE.

Thanx also to: Maja Milicevic, Omar Burton, Oniel Millwood, Mike Sukhram, and ALL of my great friends in Jamaica... Miss y'all lots already. I hope to see you next year, but until then ONE LOVE. Yah mon. :-)

Thanx especially to our awesome coaches: Barbara Makeda Blake-Hannah (especially for making the TechSchool 2000 happen), Sima Sconyers, and Maggie Hanus. You are all great mothers. :P

To my international network of friends (the "late night crew"): Pete Stein, Dotan Sela, Sarosh Wahla, Gordan Durgha, Mike Wilson, Joshua Motta, Sanjay Murray, and Norman Tan. Thanx for everything guys!

Thanx to the music artists whom I love. Your songs kept me going when I was working on the site in the late hours of the nite.

Another big thanx goes to ICQ and AOL / AIM. When my team mates were able to get a connection to the internet, it was ICQ & AIM that helped us collaborate successfully.

I should also say thanx to one of my team mates, Jory, for introducing and getting me hooked on Adobe Photoshop. Note to Jory: Yes, you introduced me to Photoshop, and for that I am grateful... But you DID NOT introduce me to ICQ also! Nathan Dierienger did first, and then you renewed my interest in ICQ later on. :P

And of course a HUGE thanx goes to my ThinkQuest team mates, Jory and Makonnen David Blake-Hannah, who were amazing people to get to know and collaborate with through the internet, and in person.

Jory Would Personally Like to Give Thanx to...

Thank you
Mom and Dad. You are the best.

A very big thank you to America Online, the network, the software, and the service, and without whom this project would NEVER have been fully realized.

To all the great musicians: It would have been difficult to work on this project without all of the great music.

Thanks to Sonic Foundy Inc. for creating such a fantastic sound editor. I hope Sound Forge continues to succeed. Thanks guys!

Thanks to my fellow speed skaters (especially Branden, Stephany, and Jake) and coaches for helping me unwind after the long hours of work.

A very special thank you to AnalogX Studiosfor the free DirectX utility and Internet Software. It has been very helpful and I look forward to future releases.

To all of the people who have helped me so much with this project, thank you all very much. There are too many of you to mention, but know that I am very grateful... you know who you are!

Thanks very much to Sarosh Wahla.

Thanx to ICQ. Note to Melissa: Yes, I did introduce you to Photoshop, and ICQ as well. Thought I should clear that up. :P

And of course Melissa and Makonnen; its been a great privilege to work with you both on this project. I look forward to our future collaborations.

Makonnen Would Personally Like to Give Thanx to...

Big big thank you to
Moms. You know you are the best.

Another thanks to Moms for making this year's TechSchool 2000 event a huge and awesome success, and for bringing my team mates Melissa and Jory, as well as Sarosh Wahla. Without your work and efforts on the TechSchool, I would not have had the pleasure of meeting Melissa, Jory, and Sarosh. Thanks also to all of the TechSchool sponsors!

To Sun Microsystems for their revolutionary work on making Java into such a powerful and versatile programing language and tool. Being free doesn't hurt either.

My personal thank you to the Prime Minister of Technology and Commerce of Jamacia for having the courage to appoint a person of my age and experience. I hope your faith in my abilities is reinforced through the work I have done here.

To Microsoft for their excellent documentation of the features and scripting abilities of Internet Explorer. The free HTML guide is a MUST; I dont think I would have been able to understand Melissa's code without it. : )

And had PERL not been created, I don't know where we would be at all. PERL has been the best tool for scripting on the server side. Despite the myraid options available to developers, PERL is both the fastest and most widely available. Highly recommended.

Thanx to ICQ and AIM so that I could communicate with Melissa and Jory. Note to Melissa and Jory: Just to clear this up once and for all, *I* introduced BOTH of you to ICQ! :P

And of course those fabulous two without whom this project would be nothing, one love to Melissa and Jory.
