I got involved in business, at the begining of this year after quitting my job as a web author and decide to do freelance web a uthoring for myself. I collaborated with a friend of mine who was into multimedia, we were both self taught in our fields. I found our clients who were close contacts of mine, by persuading them that Internet was the wave of the business future we were hired. 2. When [how] did you get interested in computers & the internet? The interest of computers was never an over night thing, but reading books and magazines that my late uncle and left for me, my fasination grew. When I got my first computer wasn't anything fancy, a Radio Shack computer which still used a ROM cartridge and I had to write the games I wanted to play in BASIC before I had any fun. I think that's how I began to like programming. Then in 1996 I recieved my Acer Aspire Computer, pre-loaded with Windows 95. There was nothing standing between me and the computer. Everytime I remember my computer I remember the comment "I had a life now I have a computer and a modem". The internet was my learning grounds for almost everything that I know today, HTML, graphics and lots more. 3. How did you come up with the idea for an eCommerce business? After seeing a lot of websites designed by other Jamaicans, I wanted to have the best out on the Internet that was designed by a Jamaican. I befriended many web authors, and got advice and comments. My goal was to have an interactive web site were users would flock to for information... information they cannot recieve else where. The one place where things will be first, my desire to be a ZDTV. 4. What problems did you encounter along the way? How did you solve them? Technical know how, the only thing that is holding me back. I want to learn from basic to advanced about eCommerce, I know no man's an island, and I can never do it by myself. I guess in time with the proper training I will be able to take on the challenge. 5. [How do you measure success?] Who or what helped you most to become successful? Success...I would say is the fulfillment of a dream. The 'success' that I have gotten over time, I would say was a result of friends, people sending positive feedback about my work. Knowing that I'm not creating another useless archive. 6. How many people are involved in your company now? [What kind of people do you look for to work for/ with your company?] The number of people in my company or 'group' as we prefer to call ourselves is always growing. Currently there are 7 of us, comprising of Web Authors, Graphic designers, Programmers, Public Representitives, Editors and Producers. I think that I have one of the best collection of talented teens. Those that have the interest and never stop thinking, the internet insomniacs and the social engineers. 7. What the best thing that has come from being a teen entrepreneur? I think the recognition... It's not everyday your group get recognised for it's achivements or talent. 8. What do you consider to be your biggest [most personally satisfying] accomplishment? Buliding my own computer! I will never buy a computer from a store again, I know what I want and I build it. Others may not see this as much, but for me it is. When you know you are using a tool to achieve something and it was a result of your hands and imagination, it give you a sense of accomplishment. 9. What is your advice to aspiring teen entrepreneurs? Take your dreams in to your own hands! Networking isn't just copper wires, computers and a hub, it's getting to know others that can help you and in turn help them. 10. What are your plans for the future? Personally I want to make the name Web Attacks! known in Jamaica for what we do best, what we can do and what we have done. Taking it to the top level of success. "ZDTV I'm coming for yah!" :) Thanx Sanjay for the great interview! You can check his group Web Attacks! at his website at http://www.webattacks.net/.
