Building Your Identity
 What's in a Name?
 Getting Found
 Opportunities

1. What's In A Name?

You've got an idea.... A product, service, eBusiness, whatever.

Then you've got a name. But do you have an identity??

Some companies have better or bigger identities then others. Most everybody knows what Coca-Cola is, right?

But how did they get to be a household name? First, they brought their product into the house.

For stroke, let's say you've got a product or service that isn't tangible or cannot be "brought into the household".

Now, let's say you have a website about your product or service.

It will be a WHOLE LOT easier to bring it into a household.

2. Getting Found

So how does your website "get found"?

There are many ways to "get found", some more controversial then others.
Submitting your website address to search engines (such as HotBot.com or Yahoo.com) is just the first step to getting found. Once the person clicks onto your site and views the first page, what should you expect?

If you want this visitor to return to your site ever again, you want a couple of things to have an impact on them.

First your name should be easy to remember, spell, and pronounce. That gives the visitor confidence that if they leave the site, they will CAPABLE of returning (without having to hit the search engines again).

Spamming is NOT acceptable form of getting found, and is not appreciated or tolerated among most people. Spamming could give your company a bad reputation.

3. Opportunities

Other marketing opportunities include posting your web address with a short description of you company or service to newsgroups or mailing lists related to your company or service.

Be careful with this tactic, because some newsgroups and mailing lists do not allow it, and consider it spam.
