Linking up Stone
Linking up stone is an important part of playing Go well because it helps to prolong the liberties of a seed or creating a strong connected group of seeds so as to defend or attack easily .
Look at the two black and two white seeds in the following diagram

If either side play at the marked point, then opponent's seed will be cut and be vulnerable to attack .
