It gets a bit clearer, if we express this number it in orbits around the earth.
The light beam would have travelled around the earth times.
And it would have travelled from the earth to and back from the sun times.
The same phenomenon is demonstrated by the sound. Even being much slower it also proceeds quite a bit.

Again and again it is amazing, how many kilometers we proceed without noticing it. The only rotation of the earth has an immense influence.
