Raistlin Majere, the tragic archmage

Name: Raistlin Majere
Race: Human Archmage
Born: In the town of Solace
Life: Raistlin Majere was born in the year AC 335, along with his twin brother Caramon. He was always a weak boy, often bullied and despised by the other boys. He was a loner, and preferred magic to swordplay. Raistlin had a talent, the power of magic, and he vowed to become powerful one day, so as not to constantly depend on his stronger brother Caramon. Raistlin possessed a keen, intelligent mind, and, as Par-Salian, Head of the Conclave had seen, he also possessed a core of strength within him, a cold, shapeless mass at first, one that had to be forged into finest steel through the trials of hardship and suffering. Thus, it was this way that Raistlin grew up, avoided by many, except his brother, who loved and cared for him almost protectively. Raistlin grew up to be bitter, cynical and arrogant, but within him there was great compassion and caring for the weak, for Raistlin knew what it was like to be weak and suffering. Raistlin grew up and took the Test of the mages at Wayreth Tower. He survived, but not before most of his lifeforce was wrenched away by the dark archmage Fistadantilus. He also left the Tower with gold-tinted skin and hourglass eyes, which allowed him to see time passing, and, as Par-Salian hoped, the suffering of the people as well. Raistlin took the Red Robes originally, but was eventually lured over to the dark side and became a Black Robed mage. He challenged Fistadantilus and survived, becoming the Master of Past and Present. Raistlin's life ended when his ambition got too great: he planned to enter the Abyss and defeat the Dark Queen, aiming to become a god himself. He would have succeeded, except that he realised the consequences of his actions at the end and gave himself up, sacrificing his life to close the Portal. Also, after the Second Cataclysm, when all the gods left Krynn, Raistlin was asked along as well, to become a god in the new world.
