Laurana is the youngest child of the Speaker of the Suns. She has two brothers, one of whom was Gilthanas, one of the Heroes of the Lance. Laurana fell in love with Tanis Half-Elven, who was frowned upon because of his heritage.
When the War of the Lance began, Laurana joined the Heroes and followed them to Palanthas, where she led the forces of Good to victory, shortly after which she was captured by the minions of Tahkisis.
However, Tanis came to her rescue, and they were married after the war, bearing a son, Gilthas, who suceeded Porthios as ruler of Qualinesti.
