The Myriad Races.....
There are many various races in the world of Valdemar, but the majority is made up of humans, and the humans are mainly split up into different nations, there are those of Karse, Valdemar, and various others, each of which have their own beliefs and customs, which is why Karse and Valdemar have often been at war with each other.
Besides that, there are also the Companions and Firecats of Valdemar and Karse respectively, both of them spirit beings that choose to inhabit the bodies of animals so as to aid the Heralds and Priests of Valdemar and Karse (respectively again!). One interesting point to note though, Companions are dead Heralds that come back as horses, while Firecats are dead Sunpriests that come back as cats, which is why there are more Companions than Firecats, as there can be only one Sunpriest at any one time, while there can always be many Heralds in service to Valdemar.
Also, there are the other strange races that come from the Pelagirs, strange beings that were formed by the magic, many of them nameless and undefined. However, there are the gryphons, magical creatures that spring from the age of the Mage Wars, when they were created to help the Mage of Silence in his battles. Also, there are the hertasi, lizardmen that act as servants to the Hawkbrothers. Thus, as you can see, there are just too many races to be listed.
