The Dragon Prince trilogy takes you to a time when Rohan has just assumed the throne as Prince of the Desert, and discovers his enemy, High Prince Roelstra, ruler of Princemarch, a power-hungry man who covets the lands of the Desert. From that moment on, Rohan has to act as a total innocent, drawing upon all of his cunning and intellect to fool Roelstra into a false sense of security, as well as fool all of Roelstra's daughters, seventeen in all, all of whom would love to marry the young and handsome Prince Rohan. As the story of intrigue unfolds, Rohan manages to triumph over Roelstra and wins the hand of his beautiful Sunrunner wife, the Lady Sioned. At that point on, Rohan becomes the High Prince, and has to fight off claims to his throne, as well as maintain a realm of peace.
Dragon Star:
The Dragon Star trilogy takes place a while after the Dragon Prince trilgoy ends. Rohan's reign of peacefulness is disrupted by an army of barbarians, who claim to be cousins to the Merida, assassins that wield poisoned glass knives and are deadly foes of Rohan, as well as allies to the diarmadh'im, sorcerers that use the power of the stars. Rohan is killed in their first encounter, an old man by then, dying of a heart attack, and Sioned flees with her family. Pol becomes the High Prince, and with the help of his Battle Commander and cousin Maarken, as well as his eagerness to prove himself in battle, they finally manage to drive away the invaders.
