A short history.....
The Age of Starbirth:
Before the Beginning, there is Chaos. Then, out of Chaos comes thought and being-the High God. Paladine and Takhisis answer the High God's call, and Gilean serves the Balance between Good and Evil. Among their companion is Reorx, who forges a mighty hammer and smites Chaos. The sparks that fly up from the hammer light the heavens as stars! Reorx then shapes the great globe of Krynn and a sun to light it. Paladine and Takhisis give birth to the First Born Five dragons, but the Dark Queen corrupts them. Grief-stricken Paladine breathes life into statues of precious metals to form metallic dragons. In the All Dragons War, the forces of Good and Evil release terrible devastation upon the world. Ashamed, the gods vow to stop the war. Soon, however, they covet the spirits of the living stars and battle erupts again in the All Saints War. Ultimately, the gods of light give the spirits physical bodies, the dark gods curse them with mortality, and the gray gods give them free will. Next, the deities of Good fashion elves, those of Evil shape ogres, and those of Neutrality create humans. The High God forms other children of Krynn. Finally, each family of gods produces one of the gods of magic, each taking as his symbol one of Krynn's three moons.
The Age of Dreams:
Dates are referenced by Pre Cataclian reckoning, meaning "Pre-Cataclysm." The Foundation Time ( 9000 - 3000 PC ) The Ogres claimed Krynn's mountains, the Elves withdrew to the forests, and the Humans took to the plains. Reorx takes a group of Humans to the northern lands and teaches them his craft. As ogres embrace cruelty, Humans rise up to slay their masters. Ogre civilization falls. Elves seek to build their own civilization in a wood already home to the chromatic dragons. The Time of Light ( 3500 - 2030PC ) The First Dragon War occurs, and the three gods of magic (Solinari,Lunitari and Nuitari) are exiled for interfering. The GreyGem is also created. Silvanesti is founded by the Elves while the gods of magic reenter the world through the Graystone. It is also during this period that races such as minotaurs, dwarves, kender, goblins are created. The Second Dragon War occurs together with the formation of the Lost Citadel. The Orders of Magic are created with the Towers of High Sorcery.The Human Tribes are united under a Barbarian Chief, forming the Empire of Ergoth. Ergoth expands, and trade with the Elves leads to intermarriage and half-elves. Twin elven princes, Sithas and Kith-Kanan, are also born in Silvanesti. Years later, the slaying of the Elf Speaker leads to the Kinslayer War. The Elf faction loyal to Kith-Kanan declares independence from Silvanesti, and venture west to their new homeland of Qualinesti.
The Time of Knights: ( 2000 - 1018PC )
The Humans, Dwarves, and Elves work together to erect the fortress of Pax Tharkas, a monument to peace. A rebellion occurs in the east, and Solamnus marches east to quell it, but ends up joining the rebels. The Rose Rebellion occurs, and Solamnus wins independence for the rebels, after which he sees a vision which leads him to found the Knights of Solamnia. The Third Dragon War occurs, and mages create five Dragon Orbs, which call the dragons to their doom. Huma Dragonbane and his beloved Gwyneth-really the silver dragon, Heart-find the first dragonlances. Takhisis herself falls to a lance and swears to depart with her dragons. The Age of Might (1000 - 0PC) Dates are referenced by Pre Cataclian reckoning, meaning "Pre-Cataclysm." Istar evolves into the center of trade and commerce, and rules Ansalon during a period of peace. It appoints a KingPriest, and build the Temple of Istar in his glory. The KingPriest begins to exterminate "evil" races and plots his ascension to godhood, while mages are hunted down as threats to the KingPriest. The KingPriest attempts to beocme a god, and the immortals summon their true clerics to safety, for the Cataclysm occurs soon after.
The Age of Despair: (1 - 383AC)
Dates are referenced by Alt-Cataclian reckoning-after the Cataclysm. The Time of Darkness (1 - 332AC) Due to the disasters suffered by the people in the years after the Cataclysm, the Knights of Solamnia are persecuted by the population which they had once protected. Takhisis creates a gateway to Krynn using the Foundation Stone from the Temple of Istar. She gathers the evil dragons in Krynn, then returns to the Abyss to prepare for the assault on Krynn. However, she is trapped in the Abyss when Berem (Everman) and his sister stumble upon the Foundation Stone. Tahkisis then orders her creatures to seek out Berem, but their efforts are in vain. It is also during this period that the Heroes of the Lance are born into the world.
The Time of Dragons: (332 - 383AC)
The Evil Dragons ally with the Dragon Highlords, who serve Tahkisis. These generals train dragonarmies made up of a variety of races, such as goblins, hobgoblins and ogres. These dragonarmies begin their attack and manage to conquer much of eastern Ansalon. At the same time, the future Heroes of the Lance begun their quest to search for any sign of the gods in the world. Much of Ansalon has fallen, and dragonlances are yet again presented to vanquish the evil dragons, and with the help of the good dragons, the Heroes finally have a chance of defeating them.332-340AC: Evil dragons ally with Dragon Highlords. Yet, there is a price in battle, and two of the group (Sturm Brightblade and Flint Fireforge) were killed. The remaining Heroes journey with Berem to Neraka, where Berem destroys Tahkisis' gateway to Krynn by reuniting his Gem with the Foundation Stone.
