National Frog Survey

About the Survey

The Frog Home Page has helped us to keep you updated on what we find in local ponds (Henderson, Minnesota for us.) Now we want you to tell us what you find in ponds near you. We are starting an online database to track the responses we get. This database will help us to uncover the size of the deformed frog problem, identify new problems, and determine the health of ponds around the USA.

There is an online survey below. The completed surveys we receive will be added to the database and will also be submitted to the "A Thousand Friends of Frogs Project". The 1000 Friends of Frogs is a Minnesota program that uses students, schools, families, and individuals to learn about the health of Minnesota Ponds. The program was started by the Minnesota New Country School and Hamline University Center for Global Environmental Education. With this page we hope to start learning more about frogs on the national level.

Frog Collecting Guidelines
  1. Always obtain permission to be on the land that you are visiting. While many areas may be public wetlands, others are owned by individuals. Please respect their property rights.
  2. Leave the area as you found it. Take only notes and pictures.
  3. Respect the animals in nature. Do not disturb or remove them from their habitat. Egg Masses and individuals should be left alone to develop naturally. Even if you find a deformed frog, leave it where you found it.
  4. Please have the appropriate adult supervision and use common sense in safety issues.

As completed surveys are sent back to us we will publish them here. Because this is a new feature of the page we do not have any completed surveys yet. But they will come soon enough.
