I started collecting and breeding butterflies when I was 7 years old. I am now a lot older !
I still collect, breed, photograph and video butterflies. I am also a professional butterfly

I was very impressed with your site. I must admit that I was'nt able to see all of it, as I

In Seattle Butterflies are considered "an indicator species". That is: when there are less of them we should find out why, and when there are more of them we know we have done something correctly in the environment. It is my understanding that Seattle, Washington; USA has conducted "butterfly counts" as a part of ecology awareness.

Ich habe gerade eure Seiten über die Schmetterlinge durchgelesen. Ich finde sie sehr gut gestaltet. So kann man dies auch Schülern ab 10 Jahren interessant beibrigen und den Unterricht auch lebhaft gestalten. Schön ist auch, dass das Fachliche gut bearbeitet ist und doch auch für jeden Laien verständlich.
Ich bin froh, dass ich die Adresse von diesen Seiten durch einen mir bekannten Lehrer
bekommen habe.
Es wäre schön, wenn es auch über andere Tiere oder Insekten oder Pflanzen so
ausführliche Arbeiten gäbe.

I am an elementary school librarian preparing a unit on the life cycle of the butterfly for my students. We planted a butterfly garden last year and raised nine Painted Lady butterflies in the library. Everyone enjoyed it and learned so much. This year our third graders are raising butterflies in their classrooms as well as the ones we will raise in the library. We have a wonderful local butterfly society who sends guest speakers to our school. We read fiction about butterflies and use the butterfly topics to launch research projects including internet searches. Our art teacher helps students produce "butterfly" art. The unit will last about six weeks this year. As our school creates a new website, we hope to post our projects online this year. I found your website tonight as I browsed and it will be very helpful to us. Thank you for all your effort to provide such a great source of information on butterflies.

It's great for me to find a butterflies site and, of course, persons to talk bout these amazing coloured insects that give us a different way of understanding wildlife.
When you say "I'm a butterflies watcher" someone will say "I've seen a white one". Here in Spain there are about 15 species of "white butterflies". None is white. You explain it and, next time you meet the guy who had seen a "white one" you can hear from him/her "I look at the butterflies in a different way since we talked".
When you know butterflies you get hooked to them.

Ich stehe gerade auf der Stuttgarter Multimedia-Messe genau neben dem Stand des Internationalen Schülerwettbewerbs im Internet.
