Effect of magnetic field

     Instructions:

    Under the effect of magnetic field, (in the direction of going into 
     the paper):

• Alpha ray shows small deflection in an upward direction;
• Beta ray shows a larger deflection than that of alpha ray, and in a downward direction.
• Gamma ray shows no deflection.

  The placing of a magnetic field across the path of radiation 
     causes a change in the direction of the rays so that they bend. 
     The strength of the magnets and the energy of the alpha or 
     beta particles will determine the degree of deflection of the 
     particles from the source.
