| Students of Architecture at the Budapest Technological University asked their professor in 1946 (in the socialist realism's first wave) how could be a house socialist realistic? They knew how could it be Roman or Gothic, Classicist or Baroque but they had no idea how to build a socialist realistic building. The professor turned pale and thought long. After a long time he said: "Well, the tympanis should not cause any problems, I think." And since then several houses have been built with tympans. This was not been assailable politically because it came from the ancient past. |
