The early socialist realism's architecture
The Gödöllő University's
housing estate was built in the early socialist realist style. A famous architect, Zöldi,
designed these houses. Despite his experience and knowledge he did not know exactly how to
build a house in this new style.
According to the functions and
circumstances he tried to give rustic and stubby motives to his new buildings and he
stated they were built in social realistic style... ...and he won the Kossuth award
(famous in Hungary) with them. By the way, they are very comfortable and good houses. A
law was introduced those days, which ordered to spend the 2 thousandth of the building's
cost on the outside decoration. That's how the relief on the side walls were born.
