How does
Hou-Feng-Di-Dong-Yi
work?
This is the earthquake measuring instrument invented by Cheung Hang(±i¿Å)
in 132 A.D. Inside this instrument, there is a pendulum in the middle.
It is connected to the dragons outside by levers. When an earthquake occurs
,the pendulum will incline
towards that side, pushing the lever of the dragon facing that side,
and makes the dragon open its mouth. Then the metal ball in its mouth would
fall into the toad's mouth. Through this, occurrence of earthquakes can
be shown.
