The Song Dynasty
The Song Dynasty was the prime period of woodblock printing in ancient
China. At that time, the quality and quantity became considerably better,
the printing techniques were more advenced and the layout became more standardized.
The printing at that time could be classified into goernment printing,
school printing, Buddhist printing and private printing.
During the reign of Ren Zong (¤¯©v) of the Song Dynasty,
and engraver named Bi Sheng (²¦ª@)
invented the movable-type printing with the combination of clay movable-type.
From then on, books could be printed in a much faster way.
