Dinosaur Fossils

The fossils of those giant ( well, maybe not necessarily giant ) animals were believed to be dragon bones, but not until the 1820's did Dean Willian of Oxford say that they were formally studied group as extinct lizards. The term "Dinosauria" was made to describe these animals.

A Fossilised foot print Although their remains have been found elsewhere, the the first glimpses have occured in North America, providing the first real glimpses of the lifestyrles of these animals. With that, the past of the earth has been found out too. Till today, not all the species of dinosours have been found, with newer discoveries taking place.

The first of these animals were in the Late Triassic times ( 230 million years ago ) and were not that huge a group. But by the Early Jurassic ( around 200 million years ago ), many other species of the earlier period had gone extinct and dinosaurs were diversifying. At this time they had become dominant animals of this era, became bigger and bigger . The Late Jurassic ( 35 million years later ) to the Late Cretaceous ( 65 million years ago ) was the reign of the dinosaurs. Later the birds came into existance ( but this did'nt mean extinction of dinosaurs ).
