About this site

"Evolution in a nutshell" was created by the combined effort of Karthik Raveendran and Srikanth Sridharan. This is our first attempt in Think Quest and it has been a learning experience for both of us. Our coach Ms. Maitryei Shasank along with the other computer lab faculty helped us throughout this project and we are very grateful to them.

The web site utilizes the latest concepts like Javascript and VRML to create more interactivity. The visitor can also submit his own comments about our web-site, sign the guest book, and submit his views and artcicles on a certain subject which will be filtered and edited by us before it is uploaded.

We have tried to cover most of the topics concerning evolution such as the Darwin's theory of evolution, evolution of the many life forms like the dinosaurs, humans etc , fossils and also the geological time line.

The Fun & Games section consist of many interactive online games and puzzles such as Quizzes, 3-D VRML games, Anagrams, Jigsaw puzzles, Crosswords and many more...

This site has dedicated chat rooms where teachers, students and others can interact with each other to discuss matters.There is also a mailing list which you can join and compete with others in the monthly quizzes. The scores will be posted on our web-site. The message boards too serve the same purpose.

We have implemented a roll-over menu system, navigation bars and symbols to make the learning experience easier.

In addition, there are a few symbols which are used throughout which inform the reader about the following text. They are:

Definition- A scientifically correct definition.

Examples - Used to explain the concept better.

 

The red column which runs down the page will often contain links to related topics, additional images , animations, or web sites.

Each page is about 50kb in size and should download in about 15 seconds under normal conditions. Since the major part of this 50 kilobytes is the page design itself, we highly recommend you to
