Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allen Poe Home / EAP Biography / EAP Works / EAP Related Links

Edgar Allan Poe's real love was poetry. However, since he was often broke and without money, he had to write short stories to support himself. Many people credit Poe with having invented the short story- if not the inventor, he was certainly the perfector of them. It is a fact, however, that he invented mystery and detective stories in America. Look below to see the Edgar Allen Poe's works- we don't claim to have the complete list, but we do have all his major works. His books are underlined, his short stories are in quotations and his poems are italicized.
