The record for the greatest number of olympic gold medals won is three, by Andras Balczo of Hungary (team in 1960 and 1968 and individual in 1972).
The record for the most individual championships won is two, by Lars Hall (Sweden) in 1952 and 1956.
Most Olympic Medals
Pavel Serafimovich Lednyev (USSR) won a record seven medals (two team gold, one team silver, one individual silver and three individual bronze) from 1968 to 980.
