Sydneys Beaches

Beach life is part of the Sydney way of life, with no less that 24 beaches on the south and north shores to worship the sun on. Boasting Australias unique beach culture at its best are Bondi, Manly, Coogee, Tamarama and Cornulia whelre life really is a beach even if you never reach the sand.

The purling surf of Bondi is Australias most famous beach and suitably draws some of the countrys most famous and glamorous celebrities. Here you can mingle with the bronzed, taut bodies of lifesavers, beach volley-ballers, surfers, boogie boarders, joggers, power-walkers, skateboarders and roller-bladers as well as Tai Chi devotees - oh and swimmers and sunbakers too. If you dont feel like joining the fabulously fit, just watch them - its the thing to do.

Lining the busy beachfront promenade are trendy restaurants ad laidback outdoor cafes which draw visitors and locals alike for all day brunches.

Catching a ferry from Circular Quay to manly ranks as one of the most popular activities for any visitor and for good reason. The harbour scenery during the 30minute voyage is almost as beautiful as Manly itself. The pine-lined beach boasts a relaxed and friendly holiday feel. In fact, Manly makes an ideal base for your Sydney break. Here you can enjoy the best of both worlds - the azure water and golden sands of Manlys ocean beach and the bright lights of the city, a short trip away by ferry of the even quicker Jetcat.

Less crowded and more relaxed are the superb surf beaches of Coogee with its park and cafes or Cronulla on Sydneys southern shores.
