When you enter the program at The Center For Eating Disorders you are initally evaluated by a psychiatrist and a complete assesssment is conducted. Further information is obtained from a nutritional evaluation by a registered dietitian. While in this cvomprehensive evalut\ation process, info is gathered about this course and development of symptoms, underlying issues and related complications.
Findings from the assessment are presented and then a personal treatment plan is developed. Outpatient treatment is usually recommended, except in cases which the eating disorder is life-threatening or where the person has serious medical problems. In these situations, hospitalization, partial hospital or the intensive outpatient program is recommended.
Your treatment is focused on your physical conditions and emotional needs. Drawing on the personal treatment plan, a symstematic, therapeutic approach utilizes one or more or more of the following modalities:
Throught your treatment, you gradually develop new, more effective coping skills while remaining in a supportive and safe environment. Following inpatient or day hospitalization, outpatient treatment is utilized to consolidate treatment progress. Then, therapy is often gradually tapered to allow for a testing of newly acquired abilities with careful, ongoing monitoring of eating disordered symptoms. Additionally, there are weekly support groups that are led by members of our professional staff.
