Symbolically, if not geographically, New York City is at the center of things. The very definition of metropolis, is "mother city". It is the single place that most encompasses all the cultures and wonders of the American experience.  New York, located at the Southeast corner of New York State in U.S.A., is a city which has grown from a small port town, to a grand city which influences the entire world. Tourists in "NYC" can see many American landmarks such as the Rockefeller Center,  Statue of Liberty, China Town, and the Empire State building (tallest for a long time in history).
