The Man is a large water consumer. Indeed, a man consumes 500 m³ per annum water on average. In the rich countries, one can reach up to 1000 m³. These figures are in constant growth. The Earth contains 38.3 million fresh water Km³ of which only 1 250 Km³ are exploitable by the Man. Indeed the majority of the fresh water reserves are with the state of glaciers, of polar caps or located under ground. To use the water resources fully, the Men must install simple and inexpensive works. But it is necessary also times to build complex and expensive works like a stopping or a feeding system. In the hot countries, water has such an importance that it can generate tensions between the countries (ex: the Middle East). |
