2C:11-2 A person is guilty of criminal homicide "if he purposely, knowingly, recklessly... causes the death of another human being. Criminal homicide is murder, manslaughter, or death by auto".


2C:11-3 Murder "[is when the] actor purposely [or knowingly] causes death or serious bodily injury resulting in death."


2C:11-4 Manslaughter "[is when the] actor recklessly causes death under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life."


2C:11-5 Death by auto or vessel "[is when death] is caused by driving a vehicle or vessel recklessly."


2C:3-4 Self defense [is] the use of force upon or toward another... when the actor reasonable believes that such force is immediately necessary for the purpose of protecting himself against the use of unlawful force by such other person on the present occasion.
