Animals of Asian Rainforets: Malaysian Earth Tiger Tarantula
The Malaysian Earth Tiger Tarantula (Cyriopagopus thorelli) is very rare. They are also called the Asian Chevron Tarantula and the Malaysian Blue Tarantula . They live in tropical rainforests of Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, and can grow to be up to 5 or 6 inches. Malaysian Earth Tiger Tarantula spiderlings eat pinhead crickets. Adults eat crickets and other large insects, small lizards, and an occasional pinkie mouse. They are found in burrows by the bases of large trees, hollow logs, and plants. These tarantulas require many hiding places and covers, such as live plants, cork bark, and driftwood. Having floor space is more important than height.
