Animals of Asian Rainforests:

The Bearded Pig

The Bearded Pig (Sus barbatus) is about 5 - 6 feet long and has a tail that is about 20 - 30 centimeters long. This animal has many whiskers on its chin and has warts under the eye. These warts are more noticeable on males than on females. Adult bearded pigs have a relatively large body size, an enlarged skull, long legs, a "bearded jaw" and little body hair.

The bearded pig eats fallen fruit, roots, insect larvae, and root crops. They are scavengers, and will often follow Gibbons and Macaques and pick up the fruit they drop.

Bearded pigs have a large-scale population and are found in different parts of Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, and Sumatra.
