Make Your Own Rainforest Tribe!

Each tribe that live in the rainforest is unique and different in it's own way. Follow these simple directions and you can learn how to make your own rainforest tribe!

Materials:

~ a 3/4-inch round wooden bead with a 5mm center hole

~ 4 smaller wooden beads with center holes that you can fit a pipe cleaner through

~ Felt scraps

~ colored pipe cleaners

~ embroidery floss or yarn

~ colored markers

Directions:

Making the Hair:
~ Make the hair by cutting the embroidery floss or the yarn into about 15- 20 pieces that are twice the length of hair you want.

~ Fold a 6-inch pipe cleaner in hair over the middle of the yarn or embroidery floss.

~ Put both of the ends of the pipe cleaner through the middle of the large bead.

~ Pull the bead up the pipe cleaner until the fold is hidden in the center of the bead.

~ Separate each strand of the yarn or embroidery floss to create thick hair. If you want curly hair just dampen the hair with some water and wind them around a pencil or a pen and let the hair dry.

Making the Body:

~ To make the arms make a 5- inch cross with pipe cleaners just below the head.

~ Twist each end of the arms once around the doll's chest.

~ Bend the body about 3/4 of an inch from the bottom to form a hook.

~ To make the legs fold a 5- inch pipe cleaner in half and hang it on the hook. Secure the legs by twisting them around the 3/4- inch body hook.

Adding the Extras:

~ To make the clothes apply the colored felt scraps anyway you would like. Get Creative! Add sequins, glitter, necklaces, or anything else!

~ To make hands and feet place a smaller bead on each arm and leg. Then bend the tips of the pipe cleaners to keep the beads in place.

~ Draw on the face with the colored markers. You can also draw on the clothes with the markers.
