The Amazon spans several countries in South America and is one of the most fantastic places on the planet. The Amazon Rainforest covers over a billion acres; if Amazonia were a country, it would be the ninth largest in the world. This is largest remaining Rainforest in the world. The Amazon river is the second-largest river in the world and flows through the Amazon Rainforest. It carries billions of gallons of water per hour to the Atlantic Ocean on its eastern end. Some of the rivers flowing into and through the Amazon are larger than the Mississippi River.
