Dr. Robert Ballard

Dr. Robert Ballard is the famous explorer who discovered the RMS Titanic and the Bismarck. He became a member of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. He had dreamed about finding the Titanic for years but first thought about it seriously when the submersible was refitted with a titanium alloy shell. Finding the Titanic would be a way to bring another of Ballard's dreams to life. This dream was a remote controlled  robotic submersible.  The name of the submarine is Jason. The robot was in fact used to explore the great ship and it also inspired Ballard to start a program, the Jason Project, in the robot's honour.
