Introduction
Welcome to Streams of Life: Water in the American West. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive look at the way water has affected both the people and the environment of the American West. This topic has never received much attention by the general public. Personally we see it as quite hard to be living in the American West and not understand the concept that the water you drink does not come from next door, yet many people living out here just take water for granite. The San Francisco Bay Area depends on water hundreds of miles away. There would be no Los Angles if it weren't for the Colorado River-which is, also, hundreds of miles from the city. At one point the city of Los Angles was considering bringing water down from the Colombia River in Oregon and even the Yukon. Water has an impact on all aspects of our lives. Even if you live in on the East Coast or other parts of the world, this is relevant. We hope you enjoy the site.
