This sub-section should be labeled "Buying DVD drives" instead of "Upgrading DVD drives" as not many people have got a DVD drive yet.
When looking to buy a DVD drive a question you should ask yourself is "what am I going to be doing with this drive?" With CD-ROM they were just mainly for data, but DVDs drives allow you to play Movies as well as data discs. If you are going to be watching movies on you PC then you may have to buy a DVD-Decoder which allows you to play movies. If you are going to be just using it for data then you will not need the DVD-Decoder.
Also make sure you have a third Generation DVD Drive as the earlier DVD drive did not handle CD-ROMs well.
If you are watching movies then I'd recommend you buy a DVD kit as it comes with all you need to watch movies and use data DVDs.
