CAUSE OF DEATH

Death due to the anticholinesterase agent is normally because of bronchoconstriction or anoxia, when the airway for respiration becomes obstructed.Especially in this case, mouth-to-mouth resucitation should be avoided when in doubt of facial exposure.Traces of Sarin may be all over the victim's body.

Remember that Sarin is a gas and it is also colorless and odorless, making it even more difficult to be sensed by human beings; And even if the person somehow "manages" to detect the presence of the gas it is quite likely that he/she has been contaminated as well.

When the victim cannot respire normally, he/she may become unconscious due to a drop in blood pressure and an increase in cyanosis.Hence, this is why cricothyroidotomy (clearing of the breathing airway) is carried out and is followed by placing the victim on a respirator, as he/she may not be able to respire independently.

Yet, despite the advancement in technology in the field of medicine and the most precise preparation, death cannot be avoided as a result of cardiac arrhythmia and respiratory arrest, due to the over-exposure to a high concentration of Sarin.

This is why prevention is always better than cure or in this case protection.Workers or soldiers who risk contact with Sarin must wear the standard nuclear-chemical-biological (NBC) suit protecting every part of the human body.

The eventual decontamination must also be effective and complete, without any trace of Sarin left on the person.Clothes and the suit pose a biohazard and must be carefully disposed. The victim's hair should also be shaved just in case traces of Sarin gas somehow manage to contaminate it.
