Applications of Geography: Current Issues |
Current IssuesComing soon! The judging phase of Thinkquest '99 is now in process. Due to the rule that a team may not alter its own content (except for administrative edits or awards) during the judging phase, this page is currently frozen. After the judging ends in mid-October, this page will feature a number of new open-ended prompts for users to respond to. These prompts will be current--we'll post late-breaking geographic news as it becomes available to us, and ask for your opinions. Also, another chance for you, the user, to contribute--if you have any controversial or significant geographic issue that you don't see on this site, send it to us and we'll post it here! (We'll give you credit, of course) Send issues to (email link disabled). We will also feature at least one other in-depth exercise in the same vein as our Three Gorges Exercise. The topic we have chosen is Remapping Africa's Borders. This will explore the conflicts arising from the arbitrary borderlines drawn by European colonists during the Age of Imperialism. The user will research the effects on the lives of the native Africans, and determine the best solution. All this, and more, coming soon to Borderless World! |
