Objective 5: Building the Webpage

Congratulations! You have completed the most challenging part of your task, without having written a single word of HTML! "How is that possible?" you ask. Well, oftentimes the hardest part to building a webpage is figuring out exactly what you want that page to contain. If you sit in front of the computer agonizing over each bit of code that you write, while continually editing and revising what you've already done, it takes a lot longer to finish. Fortunately for you, all that you need to do is put down what you have researched in a clear, detailed manner that demonstrates how much you have learned.

If you have not yet begun your webpage, do so immediately by going to the "CREATE" section of our site. If you don't know how to program in HTML yet, please visit the "LEARN" section.

Our Division of Quality Control (DQC) will be reviewing each of the websites that you produce. One website will be chosen as a winner based on the following:
  • Clarity of opinion--can the reader understand what you are saying?
  • Quality (not necessarily quantity!) of research--are the facts that you cite meaningful?
  • Analysis of several different considerations--geography, environment, etc.
  • Use of good HTML "form"--did you dot all your "i"s, cross all your "t"s, and close all your HTML tags? Did you cite your sources?
  • Overall aesthetic value--information is not presented as a single huge paragraph; there are pictures that add to your page's readability; you didn't use dark blue text on a black background; etc.
Your decision regarding the dam will make absolutely no difference in your score. We believe that it is far more important that you be able to defend your decision than for you to come up with a certain answer. In fact, as with many problems of this kind, there is no "one right answer."

Deadline for entries will be posted. The winning page will be featured on our site for others to admire.
