Objectives

On this page we hope to teach people about Forensics and how it is used in Law Enforcement. We will go into some detail on the different studies that are found in this category. There are six pages that make up this site they are; Forensic Pathology, Criminalistics, Toxicology, Evidence, and a page on Forensics during the Holocaust.


Definitions:


· Forensics- the science concerned with the relations between medicine and law; medical jurisprudence.
· Pathology- that part of medicine that deals with the nature of diseases, their causes and symptoms, and especially the structural and functional changes caused by disease.
· Criminology- the scientific study and investigation of crime and criminals.
· Toxicology- the scientific study of poisons, their effect, their detection, and the treatment of the conditions produced by them.
· Evidence- something legally presented before court as a statement of a witness, an object, etc. which bears on or establishes the point in question.
· Holocaust- complete destruction of people or animals by fire; great or widespread destruction.
· Disease- to interrupt or impair any or all the natural and regular functions of an organ of a living body.
· Poison- a substance, usually a drug, causing illness or death when eaten, drunk, or absorbed in relatively small quantities.
· Examination- the act of examining or the state of being examined; search or inquiry, with a view to ascertain the truth or the real state of things.
· Identification- anything by which a person or thing can be identified
