There
have been many great virtuoso violinists since the end of the
19th century. Even today new talents regularly crop up in the
four corners of the world.
Confronted, therefore, with a vast choice of excellent violin
players, we have decided to deal with only one: a musician
endowed with an immensely generous soul and unforgettable humanism.

Yehudi
Menuhin
(New York 1916 - Berlin 1999)
A
violinist and later an orchestra conductor, Yehudi Menuhin
began his career as a child prodigy. At the age of 7 he became
world famous when he performed Eduardo Lalos "Spanish Symphony".
A few years later, at 11, he enraptured Carnegie Hall in New
York by playing Beethoven to perfection.
Yehudi
was not only one of the greatest musicians of the century, he
was also a fervent supporter of human rights. In 1989
he did not hesitate to cancel his tour in China in protest against
the Chinese armys repression of the student uprising.
Decorated
many times in several countries, Yehudi Menuhin was also Doctor
Honoris Causa of numerous universities and a citizen
of honour of 4 European cities!
