- Henryk Wieniawski
- Pablo de Sarasate

Henryk
Wieniawski
(Lublin 1835 - Moscow 1880)
Wieniawski
was born in Lublin, Poland. After studying at the Paris Conservatory,
he went on several tours. A violinist for Tzar Alexandre
II, Wieniawski also taught at the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory.
His
two violin concertos, (especially the second concerto in
D minor), the "Legend for Violin and Orchestra" (1859)
and the famous "Scherzo Tarantelle" are very popular for their
Slavic colours and the virtuosity they demand falls nothing
short of bravura!

Pablo
de Sarasate
(Pamplona 1844 - Biarritz 1908)
Pablo
de Sarasate was born in Pamplona, Spain in 1844. He did his
musical studies at the Paris Conservatory then dedicated the
greater part of his career to tours in Europe, America and Asia.
His compositions include the very popular "Bohemian Melodies"
(1863), which require a certain extent of virtuosity to be played.
