The art of origami has arisen in Japan in 7 century. By the roots it leaves in Ancient China, where more than 2000 years ago was invented a paper, unique material having property of folding. There there were first traditions of folding of paper figures. The mention of origami is present in the medieval Japanese literature. Products from a paper - box, flowers, vase, fan, lanterns, the dolls - used in religious ceremonies, on holidays, family celebrations. With paper figures decorated a hair, inserting them in a hairdress. The parents made for children of a toy of a paper. During many generations this tradition was transferred from the parents to children. The name of “ORIGAMI” this art has received approximately in the eighteenth century: “ORI” is translated from Japanese as folding, “KAMI” as the paper (at a combination of these words occurs replacement of a sound "K"on"G"). Then the first books on origami were issued also. At the end of the nineteenth century of origami have begun to study in the Japanese kindergartens and schools. Per the second half twentieth century the Japanese origamist Akira Yoshidzawa has invented conventional signs, with which help it is possible to write down the circuits of folding anyone, even of very complex models. The universality and simplicity of these symbols allows "to read" the circuits of folding without knowledge of language, on which write only additional comments to the diagrams. After the invention of the alphabet, origami has become fast to be distributed worldwide, because now diagrams of folding of models can be "read without translation" by the man of any nationality. Now all books on origami begin with an explanation of these international symbols of origami. Katrin
