Covers for books

The book on a desk is a visitor not rare. And that it looked beautiful and accurate, with the help of an origami it is possible to make nice covers.

THE FIRST COVER

In the beginning prepare for a cover a rectangular sheet. For this purpose postpone on height the sum of height and width of your book, and on width of 4 width of the book plus 2 backs.

1 Valley fold a sheet of paper in half.

2 Put a back of the book on a edge and make a fold-mark.

3 Valley fold the right-hand edge on the fold-mark made in step 2.

4 Valley fold the right-hand edge to meet the fold-line made in step 3.

5 Open out a sheet.

6 Double step fold the paper along the existing lines to meet the middle fold-line.

7 Fold and unfold on border of a back the lateral parties.

8 Put the book on the centre and fold and unfold the top and bottom edges.

9 Valley fold the top and bottom edges.

10 Fold and unfold the corners.

11 Press in a marked place and open out a valve, straightening a internal corner.

12 Smooth the turned out creases and repeat step 11 for other three valves.

13 Now put the book, open it and lift the block of pages vertically.

14 Valley fold the valves.

15 Valley fold the side edges.

16 Mountain fold the internal corners under valves.

17 Work is completed!

TWO COVERS

1 On the basis of the previous cover other variants are possible also, but for them other distribution of the sizes of an initial sheet is necessary. Height remains same. And width of a sheet approximately makes: three width of the book plus two thickness.

The steps with 2 on 13 coincide.

On the further diagrams two variants of covers will be submitted at once: at the left - variant A, on the right - variant B.

14 Make the creases, then - A: fold the edges, B: fold the corners.

15 A: insert corners under a book cover. B: fold and unfold the edges as shown.

16 Variants A almost is ready. B: open out the corners.

17 B: Bring the points together and down towards. Press the top down neatly. Thereby completing the preliminary folds.

18 B: mountain fold the edges inside along the existing lines.

19 A: valley fold the left-hand edge and well smooth down. B: mountain fold the corners of squares.

20 Both variants of covers are ready!
