| Buret
is the archaeological memorial, extremely similar to Malta, it is placed on the right bank
of the Angara. It was analyzed by the known Siberian archaeologist A. Okladnikov.
Radiocarbon date of the bones, made in 1980, gave the date of 21190 years ago. On stone
plates, circle located around the fireplaces, the outlines of four dwellings were marked
by the archaeologists. They were located in rows along the bank terrace of the Angara. The
most completely saved dwellings in Buret give an idea about |
 |
the ancient houses of the Siberians. This
house had the rectangular basis, dug out in the ground. A narrow corridor, going out to
the river, led to outside. On the edges of deepening in the strict order twelve thigh
mammoth bones, dug in the ground as the basic poles, were placed. The walls and roof of
the dwelling were constructed out of deer horns and probably were covered with skins.
The stone tools found on stands included prismatic and conic balls, plates with
retouch on the edges and ends, points, scrapers, disk tools, sticks and scrapers. Six
female statuettes (from a mammoth tusk) and the figurine of a bird are found. The group of
ornaments is represented with the jade disk with hole and suspending made from serpentine.
In palaeolithic time there was a tundra-steppe region without woodth here, and the
inhabitants of Buret most probably were
typical for the Siberian hunters on large animals - mammoths and northern deers. |
