Text: Excellent piece, though not equal to RS's piano quartet or quintet. The slow movement can (I think) be
read as a disquisition on love, carnal and spiritual; there's also
some strict counterpoint that Schumann was very vain of, though it
goes by unnoticed by most hearers. And the Allegretto (not quite a
scherzo) is a sad little mazurka, as lovely as you could want.
