Text: The cello and viola have strong parts leading this off and
all the way through. It becomes very lively and the players build
up many times to loud mini finales in unison. The harmonies, and it
seems the sentiments behind them, are gorgeous. But, I've always
been partial to Schumann. I just heard the Kuss String Quartet from
Germany play the piece on a program of Beethoven and Mozart. They
played them all beautifully, but this was the one they played the
best and it was superb. Don't pass up an opportunity to hear them
play. They came over the mountains from Aspen, Colorado (the summer
music festival) to play here in Salida tonight. Let's hope they
have long careers because they are going to bring joy to many.
